OUR NAME AND INITIALS….
We are called “Handmaids,” like Mary, because we desire to
live seeking the Father’s Will.
The word SACRED in our name, is used to express the
holiness of each person of the Holy Family. Sacred (holiness)
is applied to each person in the following way:
- Jesus, the God-man, is like us in all things except sin.
Therefore, He is all Holy.
- Mary, ever-virgin, the Mother of God was conceived
without Original sin (the Immaculate Conception)
and lived an heroic virtuous life, free from personal
sin. Therefore, she is holy.
- Joseph, the husband of Mary and a “father” to Jesus
is holy because he lived an heroic life of virtue. The
Church has proclaimed him to be a Saint, Patron of
the Universal Church and Guardian of the
Redeemer.
The word HEART in our name, expresses the Unity,
Unconditional Love and Mercy of the Blessed Trinity that is
reflected in the Holy Family.
- It can be said that the Holy Family is intimately
united in one heart, one mind and one spirit.
- United with and motivated by God (Love), the Holy
Family comes to know, love and serve all creation
through the Paschal Mystery.
- Their way of life reflects the Trinitarian Family Life
manifested in our charism and spirituality.
We use ‘+JMJ ‘ as our initials because “Jesus, Mary and
Joseph” are our model of love. These initials also serve as a
symbol to remind us that all we do is to be consecrated to
the Lord.
