January 2000

Let us celebrate the 2000th year
anniversary of
Jesus’ First Coming…
the Mystery of the Incarnation,
when God the Father
in His infinite love gave us
His only Begotten Son.
May the Jubilee Year be a time of
deep conversion and of
joyful return to God the Father.
May it be a time of reconciliation
between people, and of peace
restored among nations…

May we live this Jubilee Year
docile to the voice of the
spirit, faithful to the way of
Christ, diligent in listening to
God’s Word and in
approaching the wellsprings of grace.

-- excerpts from Prayer of His Holiness Pope John Paul II
for the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000

Dear Family and Friends in the Lord,

Grace and peace of our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ be with you. This past Christmas began the Great Jubilee, proclaimed by our Holy Father, John Paul II. We have crossed the threshold into the Third Millennium together with the entire Church, being given a tremendous gift of faith, hope and love by the Blessed Trinity! "Praise and glory to You, Most Holy Trinity, You alone are God most high!"

Daily life gives us the opportunity to live and share the Handmaid’s Charism and Spirituality with others. There is continual growth in numbers of children, youth and adults participating in catechesis (religious education) and being evangelized at San Buenaventura Mission, where we are in our 15th year directing the parish’s religious education. A new two-story parish center has been finished and was blessed in December. The next phase of building will be a three-story school, provided sufficient funds are raised for the project. In the meantime, the new office space is being temporarily used as well as the remaining old school for classrooms. It will be an interesting year having split locations for classes!

Sr. Mary Rose will be completing her studies for a Master’s degree in theology this summer and taking the comprehensive exam July 31st. Please keep her in your prayers. Sr. Mary Joseph has stopped her formal studies in theology due to a learning disability. However, she is continuing her studies informally. This has given her the opportunity to give Sr. Mary Rose direct support in our Community Apostolate. Sr. Mary Joseph, also is completing the final preparations for the welcoming of new sisters, whom we trust the Lord will send.

January 7th is the third-year anniversary of the death of Fr. Luke B. Zimmer, the Founder of our Charism and Spirituality. We are persevering by God’s grace. Please join us each day in praying the following prayer for our founding growth:

Eternal Father,
give us this day the grace to bring to fruition
Jesus’ prayer for unity at the Last Supper,
by being Jesus for and to others,
in living the Family Life of the Blessed Trinity
as reflected in the Holy Family,
thus, becoming a living prayer of unity,
a Saint (Jesus for and to others),
especially living Jesus’ Way of Life of:

Sunday … private prayer
Monday … community prayer
Tuesday … fasting and penance
Wednesday … spreading the Good News
Thursday … helping the needy
Friday … carrying the Cross
Saturday … forgiveness

* Please print out this prayer out and keep it in your prayer book or paste it on your refrigerator, or bathroom mirror, or car dashboard as a daily reminder to unite with us. It has been, is and surely will continue to be a "wonderful life" in Christ Jesus our Lord!

Thank you for your prayers throughout this past year and for all the ways you continue to give us support in our founding and formation process as a Community. In gratitude you have been enrolled in a spiritual gift of sharing perpetually in daily Mass during the Jubilee Year offered by the Passionists’ Monastery.

Please join us in our celebration with the Church of this Great Jubilee Year, whose aim is to give glory to Most Holy Trinity! We wish to spread the love of God the Father, the Good News of Jesus and the Holy Spirit’s tremendous gift of our Charism and Spirituality. Please read and then share our web site about our little Community with someone. Perhaps you know of a young woman, who loves Jesus deeply and wants to share our Faith with others, with whom you can share. Let us join in praying to the Lord of the harvest for vocations to serve Christ Jesus and His Church in the priesthood and religious life.

Let us all be united in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary and Joseph forever in love and mercy,

Sr. Mary Rose Chinn, +JMJ

Sr. Mary Joseph Mei, +JMJ
